Being positioned in the West Kameng District of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, the Eagle’s Nest Wildlife Sanctuary is home to an entire caboodle of spectacular wild beasts which will surely dazzle you. The Eagle’s Nest Wildlife Sanctuary of Arunachal Pradesh extends across a sprawling plot that measures approximately 217 square kilometers. The surrounding plot of vast terrain is indeed something to watch for besides the wild animals as it is bestowed with luscious green grassland which will definitely captivate you in a state of trance.

Flora and Fauna: One will be tempted to get down for a while to associate with this charming beauty of nature. Down hill get a sight of flowing Kameng River through the thick lush green canopy of tropical vegetation. It is a real ocean of green paradise on earth. Steep uphill mountainous range with deep valley along the Kameng River with clear flying sky is a dome for the variety of birds, specially hornbill, eagle, kingfishers, pheasant, ducks etc.

The border of the Sanctuary is up to Diji Nallah after which the terrain and landscape has a local variation. As one goes further north the altitudinal change contribute in charge of vegetation. The forest changes from tropical to sub-tropical with change in composition of crop.

Major Wildlife Attractions: The various animals seen here are elephants, tigers, leopards, sambars, serows, gorals, red panda to name a few.

The variety of birds, specially hornbill, eagle, kingfishers, pheasant, ducks etc.

Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit the wildlife is between the months of October to April.

How to Get there:
Road: The Sanctuary is connected by the Tawang – Tezpur road. There is regular bus and taxi service between Tawang / Itanagar and Tenga (Bomdila).

Rail: The nearest railway head is at Bhalukpong. From here you can hire a bus or taxi to reach the sanctuary.

Air: The nearest airport is Tezpur which has a biweekly Indian Airlines flight to Kolkata. From Tezpur (Assam) one can easily reach the sanctuary.

General Info / Tips:
Accommodation is available at all the ranges. A Forest Rest House is available in Ramalingam and PWD Inspection Bunglows are available at Dedza (Jamiri) and Tenga.
